Academy One in partnership with Tuloy Foundation (a home for street children here in the Philippines) started a ballet scholarship program in 2010 for selected children to receive ballet training.
Since then dancers from our program have been working at Ballet Manila and Philippine Ballet Theater as professional dancers. Some of them have became scholars at the prestigious Philippine High School for the arts, and boys from this program have been recipients of full scholarships to the Royal Ballet School Summer School. These two boys have also gone on to compete and place (silver and 4th respectively) at the Asian Grand Prix in Hong Kong, and went on to be selected for the semi-finals of the elite Prix de Lausanne in Switzerland. The two boys spent two years on scholarship at prestigious vocational dance schools in Europe and are currently working dancers with Leipzig Opera Ballet and Ballet Preljocaj.
Today we continue to take in scholars from Tuloy Foundation and we also conduct a yearly scholarship audition and award scholarships to promising dancers. We hope to continue to empower underprivileged Filipino youth by providing a venue for expression through the art of dance.
