Academy One Ballet Program

The ballet curriculum at Academy One is designed to take students from their first introduction to movement through a full course of ballet training.

The school begins accepting students at the age of four to a Pre-ballet class. They then follow a structured sequence of training stages, designed to increase their technical skills, stamina and discipline in accordance with their age and physical development.

Our teachers are also registered teachers of the international program Progressing Ballet Technique, a body-conditioning and strengthening program for dancers. We offer these classes as a peripheral companion to ballet training.

Academy One is affiliated with two International examining bodies: The Royal Academy of Dance, London and Ballet Conservatoire (formerly known as The Australian Conservatoire of Ballet).

Every year, selected students are entered for examinations to assess if a high level of teaching is being maintained. In addition to rigorous technical training, numerous performance opportunities are provided through yearly recitals as well as participation in local dance festivals and local and international dance competitions.

To date, students of the school have been awarded coveted scholarships and have been accepted to audition-only programs like The Dance Aspen summer intensive in the USA, the Royal Academy of Dance Summer school in Hong Kong, The Australian Conservatoire of Ballet in Australia, The Jean Wong International Summer Dance School in Hong Kong, WSPA in San Francisco, The Joffrey Ballet summer school in New York, Ecole Nationale de Danse de Marseille and Cannes, The Hamburg Ballet School, and The Royal Ballet Summer School in London.

Locally Academy One’s students have also won scholarships to the Philippine High School of the Arts, Ballet Philippines, Ballet Manila and Philippine Ballet Theatre.
Our students have also represented the Philippines in the prestigious New York International Ballet Competition (2009) and have been finalists in the local NAMCYA and CCP ballet competition and have won and placed in the Philippine Dance Cup and in the Asian Grand Prix in Hong Kong. In 2017 two of our students were selected out of hundreds to compete in the elite Prix de Lausanne Ballet Competition.

Our alumni have gone on to perform with major ballet companies, here, and abroad.
